The Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the United States Congress, has changed when Daylight Savings Time (DST) in the United States starts and ends to reduce energy usage. As of 2007, DST starts 3 weeks earlier and ends 1 week later than it did previously.
How do the changes in DST affect you?
Most computers and electronic devices are pre-set to recognize the pre-2007 DST dates and if not adjusted, will change the time on the wrong dates. This could mean that meeting times on calendars will be off by one hour on these dates over 4 weeks: March 11-31 and October 28-November 4. This includes Windows, Outlook, Entourage, and mobile devices such as Windows Mobile, Blackberry, GoodLink, PocketPC, SmartPhone, etc.

What do you need to do to help minimize any negative impact to schedules/calendars from the DST change?
After February 16th, you need to do the following:
1.Install the necessary patches that update your Microsoft Windows, email clients devices.
?? If you have automatic updates turned on your computer will install the updates for you.
???If you have Windows XP download the patch from here XP DST UPDATE
?? (I downloaded it for you)

?? If you have something besides Windows XP, contact me and I will tell you how to fix it.

2.Download and run the Outlook Update tool (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=%20E343A233
| B9C8-4652-9DD8-AE0F1AF62568 ) to help correct recurring calendar items. Please note that this does NOT fix all calendar items, such as individual meetings.

3.The only absolute way of fixing every calendar item is to go through every item in your calendar between March 11-31 & October 28-November 4 and do two things: 1) change the item start/end times to the correct times, and 2) Insert into
the subject of every item the correct time.
