What makes a Network Admin Hot Under the Collar

Here are some beautiful cabling pictures in some unknown data centers.

Zen is a neat and tidy server rack

These pictures were exactly what I needed to illustrate my analagy of what happens to code when you copy/paste from Word to a blog entry. I’m new to blogging…and am definitely a novice, but compared to everyone else at my company, I’m the expert. I’ve been offering some training trying to get others excited about starting their own blogs.

I tried to explain how badly the code gets messed up when you copy from Word instead of simply formatting inside the blog platform. My description was the tangled web of cords behind your TV and VCR. Everything still works, but if you need to unplug something, it can be a huge pain to sort it all out. If you have your cords nice and pretty like the first few pictures, it’s a piece of cake.

    Thanks for the images!

Holy sh*t! Woe to the IT guy who created that mess, or even worse to the one who inherits it.

I can just hear how the fourth rack got out of hand… “ah… I’ll do it later… just hook it here… and…. here… ok it’s fixed!” 🙂
