News, Updates and Jibberish

August has been a whirlwind tour of work, a conference and meetups.

Inman Connect and RE Bar Camp San Fran was the first week of August and it was a great time of learning sessions and new products.

Two things that caught my eye at Inman Connect were:

listingpress

Listing Press – a WordPress Plugin to display an IDX feed directly into your site instead of an iFrame. This looks to be a promising IDX plugin for wordpress real estate sites. I like the technology and as soon as I find out more and play with it I will report back to you.

ribbit-mobile

Ribbit Mobile – Merges phone capabilities with the web, enabling you to be more responsive and connected than ever before. Looks to be similar to Google Voice but with more features. I might play with this.

What else is there to say about REBar Camp?

If you have not gone to an event and there is one coming up then you SHOULD ATTEND. No questions asked. If you want to be on the cutting edge of Technology, Marketing, Social Media, Blogging, Facebook, Twitter for Real Estate then you must go.

RE Bar Camp Miami is coming up in September.

Check out the location

Can you imaging how much press this house is going to get!

What else have I been doing?

  • Setting up a new office for an Escrow Closing Company
  • Setting up Home Offices
  • Many 1-on-1 Technology Coaching Sessions
  • Setting up Google Apps
  • Fixing generic PC problems (and Mac problems)

I am also working on a 24 hour help desk solution for the Real Estate industry where our optimum client will be a REALTOR/Real Estate agent who needs a support solution but doesn’t need an on staff employee. Our solution will be like cloning myself over and over with out the side effects of cloning. (I’m thinking of a movie like this but I can’t remember it). This solution will not be a Pay As You Go solution but instead will be a subscription based service where you can call as much as you want.

This type of solution will not do the following:

help-desk-fire

Instead you will feel like this after talking to us:

smiley

If you would like more information on this support solution I am working on please inquire by calling or using my contact form.

I think the movie that you’re thinking about is: “Multiplicity” (which actually happens to be pretty awesome and funny).

I’d planned on making it to REBarcamp Miami but WordCamp LA is Sept. 13-14th and a red-eye to Miami just doesn’t seem that tempting to me. We shall see though. Like you said, great venue!

And thanks for reminding me about Ribbit. Like you said, their product seemed similar to Google Voice so I asked them how they’re different… I think a follow up call is in order.

YES! – Multiplicity is it. AWESOME movie

I won’t be going to REBCMiami .. Bummer

The one thing that really Struck me about Ribbit is that you can download an app to your PC and call from it and the receiving end still thinks you are calling from your cell phone

“Multiplicity” ROCKS! One of my favorite movies…

As for that Ribbit feature…now that’s wickedly awesome.

    Hi Loren,

I’ve been shooting my mouth off on BHB and Agent Genius blogs and saw you over there. I’d be happy to share with you what we are doing with the ListingPress plugin. We should have the first two sites in the US to go live in the next 1 – 2 weeks.

We’re doing some really interesting/creative design and SEO work, and I’m forming a partnership with the #1 Thesis designer to transfer the designs from StudioPress theme to Thesis.

Anyway, I’m glad I had a chance to check out your blog. You obviously do some great work, and I really like your sense of humor.

I hope you get the Tech Support biz up and running. I’d be happy to throw you all of my clients : ). Answering emails all day about “how to x” get’s to be a little much. I’ve tried to automate a lot of this, but some people just need some hand-holding or a quick fix via YuuGuu or TeamViewer, etc…
