How to Create a Keyboard Shortcut to Start a Program
Are you a Real Estate Agent that doesn’t have a lot of time to waste?
Do like to waste time clicking “Start->Progams->whatever->the program” to start a program? Some of you may have copied a shortcut to your desktop of any program to make it easier to find.
I don’t like to clutter my desktop so I create Keyboard Shortcuts to start programs.
What is a keyboard shortcut?
It is a sequence of keys that you press on the keyboard to perform a function. Such as to copy you hit Ctrl+C (that is the “Ctrl” key bottom left of the keyboard the “c” key)
Step 1
Right click on the Program Shortcut you want to create the Keyboard Shortcut for, then select Properties.
When you get the properties window open you will see the view as in the picture above.
Now what you need to do is click in the box where you specify the shortcut command. You will see a blinking cursor to indicate that you should start typing, but you cannot erase what is there. Instead what you do is hit the keys you want to make up the keyboard shortcut
So First start by pressing Ctrl – when you do that Ctrl + Alt will automatically appear. Now you just need to hit the next key (you don’t have to hit Alt) and it will appear. If you want to use Ctrl+Shift+E then you need to press that exact sequence
Now all you have to do is hit “OK” to save your changes.
Test out your handy work.
